October 11, 2013. Cholera alert declared in Honduras
Health officials declared a cholera alert, vowing to strengthen vigilance against the disease at all borders and airports, media reported on October 9th. On October 7th, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) expanded its epidemiological alert against cholera to include Mexico, prompting the Honduran response. At least 46 cases of the disease, including one fatality, have been confirmed in Mexico; to date, no cases of cholera have been detected in Honduras.
