For more than 30+ years I have been a health insurance agent working primarily within the U.S. Domestic markets. I have helped consumers in more than 28 states during my career. In addition I work extensively in the International Health Insurance markets working with individuals, families and groups traveling outside the borders of their home countries both short and long-term needs. Including all 50 states and U.S. Territories I work in a true global way helping people from all countries around the globe.
As we continue here at home with the next phase and implementation of the Affordable Health Care Act (known as Obama Care) it has become abundantly clear that the complex nature of the Affordable Health Care Act will continue to change in the coming months. What most American’s do not realize is that their domestic coverage is not suited for International Travel or International Living. The Affordable Care Act does not mandate coverage outside the borders of the United States.
Know The Limits of Your Coverage!
Before you travel make sure you understand clearly what kind of coverage you actually have. DO NOT accept the word of a 800 number Customer Service Rep as truthfully they really do not know how to answer your questions with clarity. ASK for a copy of your Certificate of Coverage and READ IT! Then call me.
MEDICARE COVERAGE ABROAD… Straight from the U.S. State Departments Website
“What about Medicare?
You are NOT covered by Medicare abroad. The Social Security Medicare program does not provide coverage for hospital or medical costs outside of the United States. Senior citizens may wish to contact the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) or a travel agent for information about foreign medical care coverage with private Medicare supplement plans.”
For more than 15+ years I have worked with Travelers and Expatriate’s heading outbound from the United States as well as Foreign Nationals leaving their home countries for work or study abroad. Both work and pleasure bring new challenges in today’s Global Economy.
In the past couple of years the GeoBlue brand has quickly become the go-to place to shop for U.S. Citizens planning to travel and live overseas.
